Short answer
About 35 minutes. The median FACEIT CS2 matchmaking game in 32,368 matches lasted 35.2 minutes from start to finish. Half took between 30.6 and 40 minutes, and 80% between 26.6 and 47.5. Overtime games run longer: 12.9% passed 45 minutes and 2.3% passed an hour.

“One more game” is a time commitment, and it helps to know how big. It also matters if you're waiting for a friend to finish, or waiting for someone you'd rather not meet to be safely stuck in a server. We measured it from real match data instead of guessing.

Why most matches land between 30 and 40 minutes

CS2 plays MR12: 24 regulation rounds, first to 13 wins. A round is capped at 1:55, and many end a lot earlier once one team is wiped. Add freeze time, tactical timeouts, the halftime switch and whatever part of connecting falls between FACEIT's start and finish timestamps, and a normal back-and-forth game lands around 35 minutes.

The left side of the chart is stomps. Only 6% of matches finished in under 25 minutes, so a 13–2 or a surrender is rarer than it feels. The right tail is overtime. A 12–12 game goes into overtime, played in blocks of six rounds until one team takes a block, which is why 12.9% of games take over 45 minutes and 2.3% take more than an hour.

Europe vs. North America

Region makes almost no difference:

QueueMatchesMedian length
Europe28,20435.2 min
North America3,66435.5 min
South America19335.3 min

The South America sample is small, so treat that row as a rough indication.

Match plus requeue: about 50 minutes per game

A match isn't the whole loop. After it ends, the median player starts their next one 14.5 minutes later (queue, accept, veto included). Put together, someone grinding back-to-back starts a new game roughly every 50 minutes. That's useful in two ways:

  • Planning a session. Three games back to back is well over two hours, not “an hour and a half”.
  • Timing your queue around someone. If a player you want to avoid just started a match, you have roughly half an hour where they can't be in your lobby. If they just finished one, the next 10 to 15 minutes are the riskiest. More on requeue timing.

If you'd rather not keep their profile open, the dodged.it bot messages you on Telegram when a tracked player's match ends.

How we measured this

We pulled the last 100 CS2 matches for each of the 341 players tracked with dodged.it from FACEIT's public Data API on 27 September 2026 and kept the 32,368 matchmaking games (league and tournament matches were left out). Length is FACEIT's finished_at minus started_at.
